I received an awesome email today and had to share it with you. I love getting these emails:
I found your Instructable while I was working out plans to make my daughter a bed. I had a basic design for the bed frame, but was trying to figure out how to incorporate a headboard my daughter could decorate herself. (She’ll be four in three weeks–the bed will be a birthday present for her.) Your video helped explain a lot about how to put the bed together, and how to make a simple but nice looking headboard. This is only my second major wookworking project ever, the first being a standup desk I built a few months ago, and I’ve had a lot of fun both designing and putting it together. And I could not have done it without you.
I made a few design changes. First, mine’s a double bed, so the frame is 57″ wide. Also, I offset the head of the bed by 1-1/2″ so that the headboard would sit flush against the frame. I also added an extra leg support to each corner to help support the larger sized mattress.
Granted, I only put the frame together yesterday, but I wanted to send you a note saying thanks for your blog and your videos. Here’s a pic of the frame, which I put together in about three hours yesterday afternoon!
It was a good way to start the day. Thanks Jeff. Also check out Jeff’s Blog at www.rustlingreed.com/blog
